Aamir Khan is having Dangal at the Box Office and how. His latest release is on a spree to break Box Office rules and the collections have been nothing short of amazing. By Sunday, the first day of the new year, Dangal minted Rs 270.47 crore. On the tenth day since its release on 23 December the movie earned Rs 31.27 crore.
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Dangal traced the story of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a father who dreamt of making his daughters world class wrestlers. To achieve this Mahavir turned into a strict coach and his character was perfectly engrossed by Aamir. Apart from Aamir, the girls Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra too won lauds for narrating the story of Geeta and Babita, respectively, on the silver screen.
It was this combination of a perfect cast, impeccable direction and flawless storytelling of Dangal which made it a blockbuster.
Dangal was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 70 crore and another Rs 20 crore was spent on print and advertising. This brings the total budget of the movie to Rs 90 crore and the collections confirm that the movie has made huge profits.
With such mammoth collections, Aamir Khan starrer has become the second movie of 2016 to cross the Rs 250 cr mark, the first being Sultan. Both Sultan and Dangal had the crux of their story in the sports of wrestling. Right from the start both movies were announced, comparisons were drawn between them. However, makers of both the movie always maintained that they were poles apart. And with the release of Dangal it can be rightfully said the makers were not deceiving.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh termed the collection of Dangal, historic and tweeted:

Trade experts are also hoping that Dangal will over Rs 350 crore in its lifetime. Given the fact that there are no prominent releases in January till 13 January, these numbers don’t look gleam. On 13 January, OK Jaanu and Haramkhor will hit screens. A day after, on 14th, Deepika Paduokone’s Hollywood debut xXx: The Return of Xander Cage will release.
