Aamir Khan starrer Dangal has reached close to Rs 200 crore in its first week with day 7 registering an amount of Rs 20. 09 crore at the Box Office. However, the fight to reach the coveted Rs 300 crore club is still on. If the film manages to maintain this steady pace at the Box Office, it will reach a good amount of Rs 250 crore in the coming week itself.
While Dangal is registering a good growth even in the weekdays, it hasn’t still surpassed Sultan’s week 1 collection which stands at Rs 208. 99 crore. Dangal is easily now the second highest grossing film of 2016 in India but breaching past Sultan’s lifetime collection of Rs 300. 67 crore is still a task. However, Dangal’s bigger competition is with Aamir’s previous film — PK, which had recorded the collection of Rs 337. 72 crore and is the highest grossing Hindi film ever in India.
Dangal’s overseas business is phenomenal too. The film had collected a whopping number of Rs 102. 25 crore till Wednesday, which is a great number for a film released in the year end. The film’s worldwide collection stands at over Rs 350 crore already, but again, the film is still far away from reaching even close to Sultan’s worldwide record which is Rs 567 crore.
With no big film releasing this week and a free-run next week as well, Dangal has more days to record stupendous collection. Till Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees takes over the realm on 25 January, Dangal can enjoy a good audience in theatres and keep on breaking records.
