Aamir Khan starrer Dangal continues to shatter several records at the Box Office both in India and abroad. Recently, the wrestling biopic became the fifth highest grossing non-English film ever. Now, it has achieved another milestone that the entire team should be proud of. Dangal has now hit the Rs 2,000 crore mark worldwide.
Released in 9,000 screens across China, Dangal earned a little more over Rs 2.50 crore there to accomplish the feat. Its success there has opened the gates for more filmmakers in India to test waters there. The sports dramaon the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat has earned more than Rs 1,200 crore there. It has won a lot of praises from the Chinese audience, including President Xi Jinping who had confessed his liking for the movie. Now, SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conclusion will release there in September. Even Salman Khan’s wrestling drama Sultan will hit the theatres in China too.

Dangal has achieved the distinction of becoming the highest grossing sports movie of this year as well as turning out to be the biggest non-Hollywood film in China. It has left behind films like Captain America: Civil War, xXx:Return of Xander Cage, The Jungle Book and others. Now, it seeks to overtake Avatar and Jurassic World at the Chinese Box Office. Released on December 23 last year, the film earned around Rs 500 crore in India. Besides a tremendous outing at the Box Office, the film also won several awards.

At the Filmfare Awards, Dangal bagged the coveted trophy in the categories of Best Film, Best Direction (Nitesh Tiwari), Best Actor (Aamir Khan) and Best Action (Shyam Kaushal). Zaira Wasim won the National Film Awards in the Best Supporting Actress category.
