Bollywood celebrities have hailed the verdict of a CBI special court holding Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh guilty of raping and sexually exploiting two female disciples. And Shah Rukh Khan is also amongst them. He is happy about the sentence which was awarded to the self-proclaimed godman.
According to the reports published by a leading daily, Shah Rukh’s comments on Ram Rahim Singh, from the sets of the talk show, Ted Talks: Nayi Soch have been leaked. The source revealed that the moment SRK got the news about the self-made Godman while shooting for the show, he said: “the director will perhaps not like it as it is not a part of the show but I am happy to say Ram Rahim Singh has been sentenced.”
However, SRK’s comments on the show won’t be aired. The source from the sets further stated that “The channel is not likely to air what SRK said about the self-styled Godman who produced MSG: The Messenger.”
B-town celebs like Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher and Amyra Dastur, hailed the CBI court’s decision. Slamming the DSS chief, actor Vir Das tweeted “I hope he stays in jail long enough to see every one of his ‘Nutjob’ followers lose enthusiasm, go back to life, and forget about him.”
Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh was sentenced to 20 years jail for rape and criminal intimidation and fined Rs 30 lakh after 18 years of the incident. He has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in each of the two cases of rape. Both the sentences will run consecutively.
The conviction of the Dera chief in the CBI court in Panchkula on Friday, August 25, had sparked off large-scale violence by his followers which left 38 people dead and 264 others injured.
