There was a time in Bollywood when Vivek Oberoi and Salman Khan’s dominated the front pages of newspapers whenever they were taken together. Both the actors have had an unpleasant relationship and are infamous for one of the ugliest and memorable fights in Bollywood. Earlier in 2003, Vivek had called a press conference where he claimed that Salman had threatened him over phone calls. At that time he was allegedly in a relationship with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who was allegedly Salman’s ex-girlfriend. After this, a major fight broke out between both the stars and Vivek had to apologise to Salman in public. Recently, while talking to a leading daily, the actor opened up on the consequences of the controversy, his failed stardom post-Saathiya and how things changed on the work front for him in Bollywood.
While sharing his mind, Vivek, who was last seen in Bank Chor, opened up on his failed stardom and even after giving hit films how he sat at home without work. Recalling his thoughts, he said “It was like a fatwa issued against me from the powers that be.”
Vivek further added, “Even if I gave a hit, work wouldn’t follow. Shootout at Lokhandwala became a huge hit but I sat at home for a year after that.”

The star also clarified on the turning down films which later went on to become successful hits at the Box Office. Vivek had refused Om Shanti Om, which turned out to be a blockbuster. On this Vivek quipped, he “didn’t want to play a negative character again”.
“Hum Tum was offered to me on the exact same day that I was supposed to begin shooting for Kisna which was delayed since I had an accident during Yuva. Some things were just not meant to be,” he added.
Vivke also admitted that the particular phase was not easy for him. He said, “When my personal life got messed up, I couldn’t keep my eye on the ball.”
Vivek made his Bollywood debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Company and further went on to give commercial hits like Saathiya, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Grand Masti, Krrish 3 and the recent Tamil film Vivegam. He also featured in a web series Inside Edge on Amazon Prime. He is also planning to turn producer with Company 2. His upcoming film is Rai.
