Actor Fawad Khan found himself on the wrong side of an unexpected FIR, when an anti-Polio team accused the actor of refusing polio vaccination for his daughter. The Kapoor & Sons actor immediately responded by saying that the FIR was ‘manufactured’ and presented his daughter’s vaccination certificate in a statement, according to a report in The Tribune.
Earlier, Geo News had reported that Fawad Khan was named among six citizen, who had refused to cooperate with the immunisation teams. This was later confirmed by the Pakistan Polio Task Force’s official spokesperson, Babar Atta, who claimed that the actor’s driver misbehaved with the anti-polio team.
Khan refuted those claims and said that neither of the parents were home, when the anti-polio teams came to his residence. Khan was away in Dubai, performing at the opening ceremony of PSL (Pakistan Super League) and his official travel records reflect that.
As per DC Lahore, teams wanted to immunise Fawad’s daughter since yesterday. 1st his driver misbehaved with teams followed by his family. Mr. Fawad is our pride, I request him to allow teams to vaccinate the child. Lahore has had a polio case last week, we must protect the child. https://t.co/0L30OfLbMd

Fawad Khan’s complete statement as per The Tribune reads as follows: “It has been widely reported that an FIR has been registered against Mr Fawad Khan stating that he, on February 19, interfered with the government’s efforts to vaccinate his daughter at his residence. Nothing could be further from the truth as neither of the parents were home at the time of visit by the Anti-Polio Team. Fawad has been outside Pakistan since February 13, where he performed at the PSL opening ceremony in Dubai, and is presently in the United States. His travel history clearly demonstrates the manufactured nature of the FIR and he has just come to know of the FIR through the press. The vaccination of Fawad’s daughter is up to date and the record is there to support the same is available.”
As the news around Fawad Khan floated around, few fans assumed the worst by clubbing the actor with the anti-vaccination movement. The movement has been around for as long as vaccines themselves, and their opposition stems from a place of fear and religious beliefs. But the fans will surely be relieved to know that Fawad Khan isn’t one of them.
The actor’s team has threatened a legal redressal for the damages caused by this event, unless the FIR is immediately quashed.
