The trailer of Shraddha Kapoor starrer Haseena Parkar is finally out. The actress plays the titular role of Haseena Parkar, late sister of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The teaser of the film was unveiled last month and had created a lot of buzz.
Shraddha Kapoor plays the role of a woman that transforms from the age of 17 to 40. To get into the skin of the character, the 30-year-old actress had to put on excessive weight. The trailer launch of the film was held at Maratha Mandir, for which the screening of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaayenge has been cancelled for a day. The theatre has been showing the Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer for the past 22 years. The reason why the makers chose the cinema hall is that it is close to Dongri, the place where Dawood and Haseena lived in their younger days.
Haseena Parkar handled her brother Dawood’s operations in Mumbai while the don was shuttling between Dubai and is reportedly staying in Karachi. Her activities involved land grabbing, extortion, settling disputes between cable operators, dealing with overseas rights of films etc. She operated from her den in Gordon Hall Apartments in Nagpada. She took to crime after her husband was killed by Arun Gawli’s henchmen in 1991.
Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, Haseena Parkar features Siddhanth Kapoor who plays Dawood Ibrahim. Ankur Bhatia plays Shraddha’s on-screen love interest. The film releases on August 18. Watch the teaser here.
