Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal starrer upcoming film Raazi has finally got a release date. The Meghna Gulzar directorial is set to release on May 11, 2018. The film is being produced by filmmaker Karan Johar’s production house Dharma Productions.
Set against the backdrop of 1971 war for Bangladeshi liberation, Alia will essay the never-seen-before role of a Kashmiri girl who marries a Pakistani officer played by Vicky in order to spy for the Indian intelligence services. The film marks, both Alia and Vicky’s first Bollywood collaboration.
Reportedly the film is an adaptation of Harinder Sikka’s book, Calling Sehmat. After directing the critically acclaimed Talvar, Meghna has once again donned the director’s hat for the espionage thriller. The film will be shot in Punjab and Kashmir with principal photography to start from July 2017, followed by a small schedule in Mumbai.

Expressing his excitement, Karan also took to Twitter and unveiled that the movie is all set to hit the theatres on May 11, 2018. The Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director wrote:

Alia, who was last seen in Badrinath Ki Dulhania, would next appear in Ayan Mukerji’s venture tentatively titled Dragon along with Ranbir Kapoor as well as in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy opposite Ranveer Singh.
On the other hand, Vicky, known for award-winning film Masaan, has films like Manmarziyan and Sanjay Dutt biopic Dutt in his kitty. He was last seen in Raman Raghav 2.0, which also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the main lead.
