Sushant Singh Rajput is gearing up for the release of his next film Raabta, with Kriti Sanon playing his lady love. The Dinesh Vijan directorial, which has also been into controversy for allegedly copying the content of SS Rajamouli’s Magadheera, is releasing on June 9.
The actor, whose last on-screen outing remains MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, is currently on a promotional spree for the film. And during an interview with a leading daily for the same, he spilt the beans on many things. While he talked about his ‘fallout’ with Aditya Chopra, even more exciting is his explanation on being compared to Shah Rukh Khan.
Both SRK and Sushant hail from Delhi and started their career with television before making it big on silver screen.
When asked to comment on his comparison with Badshah Khan, the Raabta star surprisingly said, “Maybe we have been trained by the same acting teacher; Barry John could be the reason for comparison.” Calling himself a big fan of Shah Rukh, the actor added, “He is the only reason I started my career. Even in Raabta, I got the chance to perform his signature dance move in a song which I’ve always wanted to do.”
Recalling his fanboy moment, Sushant also shared an incident that happened when Shah Rukh was shooting for Swades in Mumbai. “I remember coming to the set of Swades, to get his autograph, but I couldn’t meet him, unfortunately. I had come from Delhi, he was shooting in Mumbai and a few years later I was dancing behind him when I was with Shiamak and I said, ‘Hi’ and he said ‘Hi’ back. And then, a few years later, when I made my debut, we were at the IIFA, he called me to his room, we sat there for 45 minutes and chatted. I was like, ‘This is it. I can’t get beyond this.’ ”
