The 18th edition of the much talked about award show IIFA (International Indian Film Academy) is at its peak. Started on Friday, July 14, 2017, following IIFA Stomp, IIFA Rocks, the award show will conclude with IIFA Awards on Sunday, July 16, 2017. No doubt the award show is a star-studded event in the presence of Bollywood A-listers like Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Sonakshi Sinha, Varun Dhawan and Shahid Kapoor among others. The award show is being hosted by Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan at MetLife Stadium, New York.
Apart from the rocking performances and stunning appearances of the B-Town celebrities, this edition of the IIFA turned out to be the first-hand experience for many stars. While Alia Bhatt is making her debut as a performer for the first time at IIFA, Disha Patani also marked her debut at the show.

1- The first awards were presented in 2000 at The Millennium Dome in London, United Kingdom
2-From the time first IIFA has been announced, Amitabh Bachchan is the brand ambassador of the show
3- When it was started in 2000, it was a one-day event but then it has been extended to three- days event.
4- This is the first time Alia Bhatt will be seen performing at the show
5-In 2009, the makers have announced special awards which include Star of the Year, Movie of the decade, Music f the decade and Director of the decade.
6- The first IIFA awards ceremony was kicked off by IIFA brand ambassador Amitabha Bachchan, he also becomes the first ever Indian star to be honoured with a wax statue at Madame Tussauds Wax Museum during the IIFA 2000 London event.

7- Malaysia witnessed the first ever IIFA award event in 2002. The main focus of the evening was on the emerging perspectives of Indian Cinema and the exchange of technology and talent. The speakers included Ashutosh Gowarikar, Karan Johar, Farhan Akhtar and Madhur Bhandarkar.
8- In 2005, IIFA marked the first International performance of Abhishek Bachchan.
9- At the IIFA 2004 award ceremony Bret Lee- the former Australian cricketer made an appearance, thus leading to the inception of his association with the Hindi film industry.
10-The spectacular IIFA event held in Dubai won the award for the Best International Global Event for South Asia in 2006 and thus created a benchmark in the world of Live events.
