Popularly known for playing the characters of Gutthi and Dr. Mashoor Gulati in The Kapil Sharma Show, actor Sunil Grover is apparently receiving threat calls from the underworld. Sunil will be seen playing the role of a journalist, who tries to fix an interview with Dawood Ibrahim in his upcoming film Coffee With D.
The trailer of the film was released on December 14, 2016, and since then, the makers and the cast of the film have been receiving threatening calls from different numbers and locations on a daily basis. The makers have lodged a complaint at the Parliament Street police station in Delhi regarding the same.
Director of the film Vishal Mishra told IANS that the least we can do is to let police and people know about. He said:
We have been receiving calls from a man claiming to be the right hand of Dawood, Chota Shakeel. We are law abiding citizens and stay in a democratic country. We haven’t done anything wrong in making the film on Dawood and will maintain that. We also don’t know how much truth lies behind the caller and his threats but all we can do is at least let the police and people know of it.

But actor Sunil Grover completely debunked the news and said that he has not received any such calls and it’s a baseless rumour. He took to Twitter and wrote:
I am not in Delhi. I am not filing any complaint against anybody. It’s a fake news.

Also, in an interview with IANS, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police R.P. Meena said:
We have not registered an FIR in this connection on their allegations. Their complaint is being studied for further course of investigation if needed.
Since the authenticity of the calls has not been confirmed yet, we are not really sure how much truth this news has. But it should also be noticed that last month, Sunil wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to get Dawood Ibrahim nabbed and to expedite the process of trial for his involvement in the 1993 Mumbai blasts.
The movie will hit the theaters on January 6.
