Jagga Jasoos that was in making for over 3 years finally released on July 14, however, the film failed to live to the hype and flopped at the box-office. The makers of the film in the past had confirmed that Jagga Jasoos is planned as a trilogy and the second installment of the film will go on floors right after the release of Jagga Jasoos.
However, the dismissal performance of Jagga Jasoos has resulted in the second installment of the film getting shelved. Although the director, Anurag Basu had not started working on the script and screenplay, he did have an idea in mind for the sequel. The Jagga Jasoos franchise was touted as India’s answer to the cartoon character, TinTin, however, the audiences were not quite impressed by the content of the film.
While Basu’s confidence in the film was visible with the fact that he kept an open end in Jagga Jasoos so as to ensure that the story of Jagga Jasoos 2 takes off from where it ended, the production house, Disney India is in no mood to back the project. Basu had planned to take the franchise forward by showcasing challenges and complexities the character of Jagga faces as he grows older.
