Renowned screenwriter and lyricist Javed Akhtar found himself on the receiving end of a flak on Twitter. Javed Akhtar was trolled when he posted facts about Rani Padmini. For the uninitiated, a huge controversy was created around Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming movie Padmavati, that is inspired from Rani Padmini. A Rajput outfit in Rajasthan vandalized the sets and also assaulted the director, alleging that the movie showed a dream romantic sequence between Padmini and Alauddin Khilji.
This act was condemned by many in the film fraternity. Wading straight into the debate, Javed Akhtar posted facts about Rani Padmini. In his tweets, he wrote that Padmawat was the first Hindi novel written by Malik Mohammad Jaisi during Akbar’s era and added that it was pure fiction just like Salim and Anarkali.
The screenwriter also called the right-wingers ignorant for thinking Khilji as another Mughal Emperor.
Soon after Javed wrote scathing words about everyone who created a ruckus with half-baked truths, his Twitter timeline was filled with hatred. He was called ‘ignorant,’ ‘anti-Hindu,’ ‘fanatic Islamist’. Another troll asked Javed to not ‘glorify perpetrators’.

Since this fiasco broke, Bollywood has stood united against the ones who hurt one of their own. But their unity also invited hatred with many trolls going all up against them. Recently, someone took to Twitter to ask Anurag Kashyap to stop ‘sleeping’ with Karan Johar, when the former voiced his anger over the entire thing.
But this time even Bollywood celebs replied to all those who spread hatred on the website. Javed Akhtar too replied to these trolls and said that few Muslims think of him as a ‘kaafir’ and few Hindus as ‘Jihadi’. Here are his tweets:
Ignorance thy name is right wingers !! Khiljis were not Mughal. Actually they existed around two hundred years before Mughal dynasty .
