Akshay Kumar possesses a Midas touch, without doubt. Whenever he does a film, he ensures that it attracts huge crowd at theatres. His latest courtroom drama Jolly LLB 2 is no exception. It has set the cash registers ringing and is going strong at the box office even after 10 days of its theatrical release.
On Sunday, the film witnessed a staggering business as compared to the other days. It garnered Rs 7.24 crore, taking the total collections to Rs 95.44 crore. That means, one more day and it will touch the Rs 100 crore mark. On Friday, the Subhash Kapoor directorial had raked in Rs 4.14 crore, while it made Rs 6.35 crore on Saturday.
The actor, who will be seen in Naam Shabana, Toilet-Ek Prem Katha as well as Rajinikanth-starrer 2.0, would be happy as the ongoing year has begun on a promising note. Although the past week witnessed releases like The Ghazi Attack, Irada and Runningshaadi.com, Jolly LLB 2 has remained unaffected by this.
Jolly LLB 2 features Akshay Kumar playing lawyer Jagdishwar Mishra aka Jolly in the film. Besides him, Huma Qureshi, Annu Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla also feature in pivotal role. The flick is the second instalment of the 2013 sleeper-hit Jolly LLB featuring Arshad Warsi and Boman Irani.
The film had run into controversies before its theatrical release. A lawyer filed a petition before the Bombay High Court, accusing the makers of showing the lawyers in a bad light. He objected to the scene wherein Akshay Kumar was seen playing cards in the premises and judge hiding under the table when scuffle breaks out during the hearing.
