January is not known to be the best month for Bollywood as not many movies do well at the Box Office. This is the reason why the term January Jinx has been coined by many tabloids. But this year things changed, courtesy films Raees and Kaabil. Both the films performed brilliantly at the Box Office. Though, both the films clashed at the Box Office it didn’t stop them from earning big.
On day 11 since release, Kaabil minted Rs 9.22 crore taking the grand total of the film to Rs 106.2 crore.
The numbers are particularly overwhelming since the movies earned so much money despite the clash. Producers and distributors have never been in favor of two movies releasing on the same day. More so when two big banners are concerned. Trade experts had asserted before the Raees vs Kaabil battle that both the movies will eat into the other’s collections. It was said that Raees will have a upper hand in this battle, something that the collections confirm.

But, Kaabil picked up pace in the days after release owing to the positive word of mouth. Directed by Sanjay Gupta, Kaabil chronicled the story of a visually impaired man who set on a path seeking revenge. In the film, Yami Gautam essayed the role of Hrithik’s wife who was raped and later committed suicide. Obviously, these numbers have sent a wave of happiness across the makers of the film.
