It looks like Kajol is the new controversy queen of Bollywood and the actress keeps on landing herself in trouble time and again. Kajol recently grabbed limelight when she left an award show with hubby Ajay Devgn after Rani Mukerji won the award for ‘woman of substance’. She was also in news for her bitter and much public fallout with once-BFF Karan Johar.
Now the actress seems to have again landed in another controversy, quite unwittingly. What landed her in a soup was the video of a beef dish. She posted the video both on Facebook and Instagram. In the video, she is seen having lunch with her girl gang at one of her friend’s restaurant. In the video, Kajol asks her friend Ryan to explain the dish that he made for them and it turns out to be ‘beef pepper water with dry lentils and dry beef’.
Soon after which the video went viral on the internet and people trolled Kajol mercilessly for consuming beef, even if it was outside the country. Little did she know that this video would drag into the existing debate on cow slaughter and increasing cow vigilantism in the country. The actress immediately deleted the video from her social media account, but the damage was already done and the video had gone viral by that time.
Here are some snippets of how she was trolled on social media after her viral video was shared by different facebook page. From asking her to use ‘gau-mutra’ (cow urine) to comparing the incident to the trolling Kiran Rao received after making Aamir Khan made the intolerance remark, trolls probed all angles to pull up Kajol for sharing the video and eating beef. Meanwhile, Dilwale actress took to her official Twitter handle to issue clarification on this issue. She tweeted:
“A video of me at a friend’s lunch said that there was a beef dish at the table. That’s a miscommunication. What was shown was buffalo meat, that is a legally available meat. I’m issuing this clarification because this is a sensitive matter that may hurt religious sentiments, which is not my intention,” [sic].
