Actor Kalki Koechlin has admitted to being trolled for having a child out-of-wedlock. Awaiting the birth of her child with boyfriend Guy Hesherberg, Koechlin was in conversation with Pinkvilla when she was asked if she has been subjected to snarky comments. “Trolling has obviously happened. People have asked me – ‘where’s your husband?’ ‘How can you do this?’ ‘Stop wearing tight clothes..’ I’ve been subjected to all this…” – Koechlin recounted during the conversation. She also quickly added that all celebrities face trolling even when they’re not pregnant and when they put out an opinion into the public domain.
However, she also pointed out that she hadn’t faced any kind of discrimination from her neighbours or the aunties in her building. “They know I’m not married, and yet they keep asking me if I need something whenever they see me. So that’s there too,” Koechlin added.
Kalki Koechlin also pointed out how she thought the words ‘out-of-wedlock’ seemed like they were from the Shakespeare era, and how funny she found it. Koechlin had taken to Instagram to announce her pregnancy and said how she worked through the first five months of pregnancy without telling anyone. She wrote she was relieved that this announcement would allow her to let her baby bump hang, instead of stuffing it into costumes.
The 35-year-old actor starred in two of the most high-profile web series in India – Made in Heaven & Sacred Games S02 in 2019. She will next appear on a Zee5 show called Bhram. Koechlin was last seen on the big screen in Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy.
