Renowned Hollywood actress Marilyn Monroe once said, “I enjoy acting when you really hit it right.” In other words, acting is not just about a larger-than-life persona on the 70 mm screen. It is about emoting well that will leave the audience happy or teary-eyed, as per the emotion of the scene. In an industry dominated by male superstars, there have been actresses who have made a mark for themselves with some powerful performances in India. They have acquired a stardom with their hard work and continue to be etched in our memories. But, is stardom the only factor to remain alive in the industry? Shouldn’t your audience remember you first because of your performance on screen and then may be because of how you look, behave or what you do in your personal life?
There’s a lot of talent in Bollywood. But, not everybody seems to be using it to the fullest. No matter how skilled you are in dancing or how perfect looking body you have, acting is still what carves the niche for you. Talking about the same, here’s the list of some stunning Bollywood divas who seem way too talented but unfortunately, haven’t been able to show their acting prowess on screen yet.
Katrina Kaif: In her 14-year-long acting career so far, Katrina Kaif has been nominated for Filmfare Awards twice. She is a Bollywood A-lister with films like Ek Tha Tiger, Dhoom 3, Bang Bang and Jab Tak Hai Jaan crossing the Rs 100 crore mark at Box Office. Katrina Kaif is currently promoting Jagga Jasoos that releases on July 14 and will share the screen space with Salman Khan in December release Tiger Zinda Hai. Sadly, the 34-year-old actress struggles to emote on the silver screen when the situation demands. Despite having acted in a film like Raajneeti, Katrina has not been able to ward off the trouble she has while speaking Hindi. She was a delightful treat in Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahaani but you cannot do the same kind of films all the time.
Like here, where she was supposed to cry (like normal people) we think!
Sunny Leone: Sunny Leone needs no introduction in terms of stardom. The Canadian-Indian actress’ name is enough to draw the crowd to the theatres. Earlier this year, she made a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Raees. Sunny will be next seen alongside Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi and Ileana D’ Cruz in Baadshaho. Although she has improved her Hindi and delivered the dialogues on her own in Ek Paheli Leela, the 36-year-old actor needs to brush her acting skills if she has any motive of being considered a serious actress.
Jacqueline Fernandez: The Sri Lankan beauty set hearts racing with chartbusters like Lat Lag Gayee, Chittiyan Kalaiyan and others. The gorgeous actress has featured in hits like Housefull 3, Race 2 and a blockbuster Kick. But the 31-year-old actress needs to work hard on her acting skills. She has been doing the same kind of roles in her decade-long acting career. She dances fabulously but where are the expressions?
Have a look at this scene from Kick and you will realise the same.

Athiya Shetty: Salman Khan enthralled his fans by crooning the song Main Hoon Hero from his 2015 production Hero. The film turned out to be an average grosser but the credit does not lie with debutantes Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty. Daughter of veteran actor Sunil Shetty, Athiya cut a sorry figure as her performance was not at all convincing. It seems that she was too much in a hurry to make a mark in Bollywood without preparation. Crossing our fingers for her next, Mubarakan!

Amy Jackson: Amy Jackson will be sharing the screen space with Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in Shankar’s 2.0 that releases on January 25 next year. The British actress made her Bollywood opposite Prateik in Ekk Deewana Tha in 2012 that tanked at the Box Office. Later, she starred in Akshay Kumar’s Singh Is Bliing that turned out to be a hit. But acting is much more than good looks and ability to dance. It is about keeping the audience glued to their seats with a spell-binding performance. And this is an area where the former Miss Teen World clearly falters.
Nargis Fakhri: She shot to limelight with Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar in 2011. She was a letdown then and the trend has worsened with each passing time. If you are Nargis Fakhri’s fan and feel like bleating before the world with an obsolete DVD of Madras Cafe in your hand, let us tell you that the script demanded her to play a foreign journalist and anyone could have done it. She was not convincing in Emraan Hashmi’s Azhar too.

Shraddha Kapoor: She boasts of a moderately successful record at the Box Office, with films like Aashiqui 2, Ek Villain and Baaghi crossing the Rs 100 crore mark at the Box Office. Sadly, Shraddha Kapoor has been essaying the same kind of roles in her film career. With her recent releases Rock On 2 and Half Girlfriend biting the dust, the 30-year-old actress will need to pull off an extraordinary act in Haseena Parkar to shut her critics.
