Salman Khan-Akshay Kumar-Karan Johar. Isn’t it a killer combination? The trio joined hands for a film which will hit the theatres next year. For those who are still living in 2016, let us clarify it’s 2018. As of now, it is not clear whether Salman and Akshay will share screen space, but the latter will be in a lead role. The venture is being directed by Anurag Singh.
Who is Anurag Singh?
The Bollywood fans would remember a film titled Dil Bole Hadippa! which hit the theatres 8-years ago. Starring Rani Mukerji, the film revolved around a cricket-crazy girl who pretended to be a man to play in an all men’s cricket team. The film tanked at the box office and received negative reviews from the critics.
But Singh did not give up and ventured into Punjabi cinema. The Kapurthala-born filmmaker directed Yaar Annamulle which was declared a hit. However, his moment of reckoning came in 2012 with Jatt & Juliet and Disco Singh. He also won accolades with Punjab 1984, a film revolving around the political situation in Punjab after 1984 riots.
With a renowned filmmaker like Anurag Singh at the helm of affairs, the film is sure to have a Punjabi flavour. And who better than Akshay Kumar to play a Punjabi munda once again. After all, the Jolly LLB 2 actor is busy these days as the ongoing year would see him appearing in at least 4 films. The Airlift actor had a successful 2016 at the box office.
Given the kind of run he is enjoying nowadays, we won’t be surprised if Anurag Singh’s directorial venture turns out to be a successful one.
