5 extreme measures Nawazuddin Siddiqui has taken to fully transform himself into Manto

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is leaving no stone unturned to justify his role of Saadat Hasan Manto which he will play in the biopic of the Partition era writer.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui is going through the grind to prepare for his role of Saadat Hasan Manto. He has decided to cut himself off from all modes of communication.  Now, we all know how much hard work the Raees actor is doing for the film which will be helmed by Nandita Das. But what he has said now indicates how much he is trying to get into the skin of his character. “Thanks to Nandita’s research on Manto, I feel I know him well enough to get into his mind and body. The body part is relatively easier,” he told DNA.

Adding further, Nawazuddin revealed how he is going to prepare for it.

  1. He is planning to re-furnish his room with the things Manto lived with.
  2. Nawazuddin also revealed he would dress up like Manto, known for his short stories and plays.
  3. He will eat the food Manto usually preferred in his diet.
  4. Nawazuddin has decided he will sleep on the bed Manto did.
  5. Nawazuddin will also speak like him.

As far as looks are concerned, Nawazuddin looks very similar to the late author. He had released the first look of him as Manto recently, which generated a lot of buzz and won him immense applause.

It is not the first time when he has pushed boundaries for his role in a film. For his role of a psychopath killer Raman Raghav 2.0, Nawazuddin Siddiqui said he left home without telling anyone and then started fearing to get deep into the character. Later, he also got hospitalised and revealed reciting dialogues while pretending to be unconscious.

Since bursting into the limelight with his role of an intelligence officer in Vidya Balan-starrer Kahaani, the 42-year-old actor has done varied roles in his film career. Be it gangster Faisal Khan in Gangs of Wasseypur II, Dashrath Manjhi in Manjhi-The Mountain Man or Pakistani journalist Chand Nawab in Bajrangi Bhaijaan, he can do justice to any role offered to him.

In Bollywood, there have been actors who pushed themselves to get into the skin of their characters. Kalki Koechlin, who played a disabled person in Margarita With A Straw, revealed how she used to do her daily chores while sitting in a wheelchair for 1-2 hours every day to prepare herself for the role. Similarly, Sushant Singh Rajput did not interact with his family for about three months while he was shooting for Detective Byomkesh Bakshy.

Among the B-town stars, it is Aamir Khan who worked extensively to play Mahavir Singh Phogat in Dangal. And the results are before you. Even Shah Rukh Khan endured rigorous make-up sessions to be able to portray Gaurav in Fan.

With such level of method acting, we are sure that the biopic on the Partition era writer Saadat Hasan Manto will be no less interesting.
