Neil Nitin Mukesh is essaying the role of Sanjay Gandhi in Madhur Bhandarkar’s upcoming political thriller Indu Sarkar. The actor took to Twitter to share the latest poster of the film and bears an uncanny resemblance to the late Congress leader.
“28th July 2017. In my most daring character potrayed on screen ever. #indusarkar @imbhandarkar . @IamKirtiKulhari @AnupamPkher,” Mukesh tweeted. The film features Supriya Vinod, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Anupam Kher in pivotal roles. Kirti Kulhari, who won accolades for her role in Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink last year, is essaying the role of a poetess.
Indu Sarkar is based on the period of Emergency proclaimed between 1975 and 1977 by former prime minister Indira Gandhi. Her younger son Sanjay called the shots during the 18 months when the government used excesses that included press censorship. A week ago, Bhandarkar had released the first poster of the film that featured Kirti Kulhari, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Anupam Kher.
The film assumes immense significance for Bhandarkar whose last release Calendar Girls tanked at the Box Office. The 48-year-old filmmaker is known for films like Chandni Bar, Fashion, Page 3 and Heroine. He will be hoping that Indu Sarkar becomes a successful, venture when it hits the theatres on July 28.
