The Bollywood faced a huge loss on January 6 in the morning after veteran actor Om Puri passed away at the age of 66 due to cardiac arrest. Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, one of Om Puri’s closest friend, confirmed the sad news of his demise on twitter. In the morning, when his doorbell went unanswered, the driver raised an alarm.
Om Puri was born on October 18, 1950 in Ambala, Haryana. He studied at the Film and Television Institute of India and at the National School of Drama. The Padma Shri awardee made his debut in 1976 with the Marathi film Ghashiram Kotwal and was critically acclaimed for his work in the films like Ardh Satya and Mirch Masala. Apart from these, he has also acted in several foreign language films like East Is East, The Reluctant Fundamentalist and more.
After his demise, people across the country including people from Bollywood, sportspersons, and politicians expressed their condolences on twitter.
