Pahlaj Nihalani, the chief of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), has filed a police complaint against a reported for allegedly harassing and breaching his privacy in Mumbai. He lodged the complaint on August, 4 at Gamdevi police station. Earlier, Nihalani was chased by a young female reporter after a controversy erupted when he spoke about banning the word intercourse in the film Jab Harry Met Sejal.
In the police complaint, Nihalani accuses the reporter of “continuously harassing me in my office building premise, exceeding all levels of courteous behavior and bullying the security guards and office staff into letting her enter my office.”
“Whenever she sees me, she enters into the lift with me and switches on her camera and continuously pesters me to speak while I choose to remain silent. She portrays me in a derogatory and humiliating manner on television and is blotting my image,” he added.
According to the reports published by a leading daily, reacting on the matter the editor of the channel said “A reporter asking questions doesn’t amount to harassing. If Nihalani thinks by filing a complaint against the reporter he can intimidate her or the channel, he is mistaken. Using such tactics is laughable. We will be putting out the whole video shortly. It was Nihalani who went on the offensive. He intimidated the 23-year-old reporter and not the other way round. He grabbed her by the arm, waved his fingers at her and misbehaved.”
Earlier, in an open challenge to the people, Nihalani had demanded one lakh votes to clear the promos of Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal, which he objected because of the word ‘intercourse’ used in a mini trail. To which 1 lakh voter have obliged to the CBFC Chief’s demand to clear word ‘intercourse’ from the mini-trial of JHMS.
