In an unfortunate accident, a labourer lost his life while working on the sets of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmavati. According to reports, the victim’s name was Mukesh Dakia and he fell from a height of five feet on head, while painting. This is not the first time that a serious accident has taken place on the sets of Bhansali’s films. Last time, a worker was injured while working on the sets of Ram Leela.
Mukesh was declared dead by Kokilaben hospital on Friday and Bhansali has ensured to help the victim’s family. While the police investigation is on, Shobha Santa, the CEO of Bhansali Productions took to Twitter and said:
What took place was extremely unfortunate and completely unforeseen. We are making every effort to help the victim and we grieve the death of the deceased.
Dismissing the claims of improper safety measures on the sets of the film, Shobha Santa further added:
Amit Ray & Subrata Chakraborty, the Art Directors said Padmavati sets are completely equipped with the best security measures. Despite that, no one could foresee such a rare and unfortunate occurrence.

Padmavati‘s lead actress Deepika Padukone, also took to her Twitter and expressed grief over the demise of Mukesh Dakia and wrote:
shocked and saddened by the news…may his soul rest in peace and my most sincere condolences to his family…

Padmavati is a period drama film which will star Deepika Padukone in the title role, with Shahid Kapoor playing the role of Raja Ratan Singh and Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of Alauddin Khilji, the medieval-era Delhi sultan, who is enamoured by Padmavati. Slated for release on 17 November, the film also features Aditi Rao Hyadri and Jim Sarbh of Neerja fame in pivotal roles.
