Anushka Sharma’s latest release Phillauri is having a tough time at the box office. The film which opened to only 15 percent occupancy across India, saw a drastic growth of over 30 percent in its first weekend. But it seems like the first weekday was not very good for Phillauri, as the film dipped drastically on its first Monday.
Phillauri did a business of Rs 4.02 crore on Friday, Rs 5.20 crore on Saturday, Rs 6.03 crore on Sunday and Rs 2.02 crore on Monday, minting a total of Rs 17.27 crore so far. This figure only proves that the film will have to struggle really hard to make its place stronger at the box office.
Directed by Anshai Lal, the film is Anushka Sharma’s second production venture after NH10 and has already recovered Rs 12 crore from the music and satellite rights. The film has received a lot of positive feedback when it comes to the performances, songs and the cinematography.
In fact, this is for the first time that Anushka Sharma has played the character of a friendly ghost on-screen and is winning heart everywhere with her effortless acting skills. Phillauri is an unfinished love story, which brings two lifetimes together. Apart from Anushka Sharma, the film also stars Diljit Dosanjh, Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada in prominent roles.
The Anushka Sharma starrer released along with Swara Bhaskar’s Anaarkali Of Aarah and while both the films are being highly praised by the film critics, Phillauri has a lead when it comes to the Box Office collections. But after seeing the present figures, it will be interesting to see if the film be able to stay strong at the BO after the release of Taapsee Pannu’s Naam Shabana.
