Anushka Sharma’s Phillauri is not going any further at the box office when it comes to the collection. The film which is being highly appreciated by the audience and film fraternity is struggling to make its place at the BO within 5 days of its release.
After getting an opening of only 15 percent across India the film saw a drastic increase of over 30 percent in its first weekend. It gave people some hope that the film is here to stay and will do a great business, but Phillauri dipped drastically on its first Monday and is only continuously sinking with every passing day.
Phillauri did a business of Rs 4.02 crore on Friday, Rs 5.20 crore on Saturday, Rs 6.03 crore on Sunday, Rs 2.02 crore on Monday and Rs 1.95 on Tuesday, minting a total of Rs 19.22 crore so far. As compared to the other parts of India, Phillauri is doing a great business in the North because of Diljit Dosanjh’s huge popularity there.
Directed by Anshai Lal, the film is an unfinished love story of a friendly ghost named Shashi (played by Anushka Sharma) and brings two lifetimes together. Apart from Anushka and Diljit, the film also stars Life Of Pi fame Suraj Sharma and Mehreen Pirzada in prominent roles.
Made on a budget of Rs 21 crore, the film has recovered Rs 12 crore from the satellite and music rights. Phillauri is Anushka Sharma’s second production venture after NH10. Also, this is for the first time that Anushka has played a ghost on-screen.
While the script of the film is not that strong, the songs and cinematography are winning hearts everywhere. In fact, the entire music album of Phillauri is a chartbuster. Well, it will be interesting to see if Anushka-Diljit starrer be able to stay at the box office after the release of Taapsee Pannu’s much-awaited spy-thriller Naam Shabana.
