Akshay Kumar shared the latest poster of his upcoming film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha which is slated to release on August 11 this year

After successfully wooing the audience with his stellar performance in courtroom drama Jolly LLB 2, Akshay Kumar will take up a social issue in his upcoming film. Yes, you guessed it right. The message is about cleanliness and hygiene. He is paired opposite Bhumi Pednekar in his Independence Day release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha.

The actor took to Twitter to share the first poster for the much-awaited release. “Taiyar ho jaaiye swachh azaadi ke liye. Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, ek anokhi prem kahani aa rahi hai- 11 August, 2017,” the actor posted. The plot of the film is inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swacch Bharat Abhiyan and is believed to be centered around a woman who after her marriage refuses to shift to her husband’s home due to lack of a proper sanitation system. Well, a lot more will be revealed when the film’s trailer is launched. Earlier, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha was scheduled to hit the theatres on June 2, but has now been pushed to August 11. It will clash with Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer film whose title is yet to be finalised.

Recently, Akshay in an event spoke at length about the need for cleanliness. He said prioritising a clean house and family’s health is the first step towards the dream of ‘Swachh Bharat”.”Friends, ‘Swachh Bharat’ is only possible only when ‘ghar’ is swachh and ladies of our family are healthy.”

The actor also spoke at length about the harmful effects of open defecation, as it leads to several diseases.”When you can have kitchen and bedroom under one roof, then why not a toilet? All of this is the result of the direction we think in. Fifty-four per cent of the people in our country do not have toilets in their homes and India tops the list globally for unhygienic sanitation practices. The government has built public toilets but these buildings are being used as animal sheds and what not,” IANS quoted him as saying.
