A few months ago grapevine was abuzz that actress Deepika Padukone has signed Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi’s film Beyond The Clouds. Pictures of her on a de-glam avatar surfaced on the Internet and went viral almost immediately. However, after a decent amount of time, the movie went on floors in India but Deepika was nowhere to be seen letting many to think she is not a part of the project. Now, the director himself has revealed why the actress is not a part of the film.
Speaking to a leading daily, Majid said that they wanted only new faces for the film, hence Deepika was dropped after she gave screen tests. That sounds legit!
An insider in the know told the daily that there were three other actresses who had been shortlisted for the role. The source added:
Besides Deepika, three other leading actresses were shortlisted for the role, but no one has been confirmed yet. Deepika is not part of the film for sure. The fact that pictures from her meeting with Majidi were leaked didn’t favour her case either. To many in Majidi’s team, it seemed that the actress was using the audition of the film to further her interests on the international arena. At that time, Majidi didn’t know of Deepika’s standing in the industry. His only prerogative was to get right actors for his story

Well, we guess we would have to wait before Majid signs on Deepika for any another film.
Beyond The Clouds made it to the headlines a few days ago when Shahid Kapoor’s half brother Ishaan Khattar was roped in for it. Sources confirmed Majid was impressed by Ishaan’s skills and is looking forward to work with him. An elated Shahid took to Instagram to wish best to his younger brother.
