Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees hit the theatres two weeks ago and has been going strong at Box Office ever since. On the 15th day since its release, Raees earned close to Rs 3 crore on Wednesday. This is definitely commendable given the number of days which have passed since the film’s release. The gangster drama has earned more than Rs 30o crore worldwide.
The film clashed with Kaabil but performed well nevertheless. Despite the battle at the ticket counters, Raees continued to maintain its grip at the Box Office. A great deal of this credit goes to Shah Rukh Khan, whose stardom ensured footfalls at the theatres. In the Rahul Dholakia directorial, SRK essayed the role of a bootlegger. His fight with the administration and particularly with ACP Majmudar (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) took the film to a new high.
Raees had all the elements which would make it a hit movie—splendid performances, powerful dialogues and memorable songs.

Though Raees saw successful run at the Box Office in India, it won’t be releasing in Pakistan. Despite the ban on Indian films being lifted, the film has been banned in the neighboring country. The Censor Board of Pakistan said the film demeaned Islam and painted Muslims in the bad light.
This would have definitely upset Mahira Khan, the lead actress of the film since she was rooting for a release in her own country.
It is now left to be seen if Shah Rukh Khan’s dream run at the Box Office will end with the release of Akshay Kumar’s Jolly LLB 2.
