Shah Rukh Khan has conquered our wits with the first trailer of Raees. The full packed masala entertainer has been widely appreciated by the audience and the critics alike. However, what erupted controversy here is the sudden announcement of the change in release date of the film, causing troubled for Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil which is also hitting the theatres on the same day.
Raees was earlier slated to release on 26 January. However, the makers have now decided to release it a day prior, i.e on 25 January. The problem here is that Rakesh Roshan along with his Kaabil team had already announced that their film was releasing on 25 January, from evening shows. Now that Raees is also releasing on the same day, it will be a cut-throat competition.

Talking about the big clash at the trailer launch event, SRK had said:
We had discussed this a long time ago with our exhibitors and distributors. We will be opening in the regular shows and Kaabil will open in the evening shows. This is a logical decision because 26th is a holiday. We had decided that we would reveal the release date only at the launch of the trailer.
However, when dna talked to Kaabil producer Rakesh Roshan, he denied all the claims of knowing about the change in Raees release date. Expressing his plea, he said:
I didn’t know about their date. My distributors said we should come out on January 25 from the evening shows. I didn’t know the Raees team also planned to change their date. There have been instances in the past of movies being released mid-week especially if there is a big national holiday following it. My director Sanjay Gupta and I are in agreement on this. After hearing what our distributors have to say, we thought it makes perfect sense go with a 25 January release.
