Ranbir Kapoor revealed that his obsession with Sanjay Dutt become a bit of a sickness for him while shooting for the biopic

Ranbir Kapoor is all geared up for his next big release DUTT, after Jagga Jasoos. Based on actor Sanjay Dutt’s real life incidents of, the film kept the buzz going ever since it went on floors. The leaked looks of Ranbir playing Sanjay in the film has made us more anxious about it. He looks like a doppelganger of the latter in the film. But it was not easy at all to create his look. Sharing the details, the Jagga Jasoos star spoke about how it took four months to create that look.  The Rajkumar Hirani directorial will release on 30 March 2018.

According to the reports published by a leading daily, Ranbir spoke his heart out on Sanjay Dutt’s biopic and revealed how daunting a task it is to play a man like him. He said, “Yeah! We worked really hard at it, doing four months of prosthetic (make-up) trials, lots of disappointments, thinking that it’s not going to work out. But you need to put in that time and effort. It’s a daunting task to play someone like Sanjay Dutt, who everybody knows anyway.”

Ranbir also shared his experience from the biopic. He said, “It was surreal for me. You’re acting like him, and the director calls cut, you look up, and suddenly there’s Sanjay Dutt actually sitting behind the monitor! But then I’d got so obsessed with him. Every time I’d see him, I’d start observing him like a hawk — the way he scratches his beard, twitches his eye, drinks water, hugs… It’d become a bit of a sickness for me. But that obsession is necessary for acting, or any form of art — that madness to get something right. You may still fall flat on your face, but it’s necessary.”

When quizzed about that if he would do drugs to get a true sense of the character for the film, Ranbir said that he wouldn’t do that for the same reason that he would not kill somebody to know how it feels. “Playing Dutt, I’d want to see how I can get into the soul of the character. The look is easy…”, he adds.

However, the title of the film is still not finalized. Apart from Ranbir Kapoor, the movie stars Dia Mirza, Anushka Sharma, Sonam Kapoor and Karishma Tanna in pivotal roles.
