Reema Lagoo, veteran actor, and Bollywood’s favorite mom passed away at the age of 59 after suffering a cardiac arrest on May 18. She breathed her last in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital. Her family confirmed that she passed away at around 3: 15 AM. Reema Lagoo was admitted to the hospital after she complained of severe chest pain last night.
“She was complaining of chest pain so we took her to the hospital around 1 AM. She passed away due to a heart attack around 3.15 AM. She was perfectly fine and had no health issues…so it is really shocking for all of us that she is no more with us,” Reema Lagoo’s son-in-law Vinay Waikul told PTI.
The actress was known for her roles as a mother in various Bollywood movies like Hum Saath Saath Hain, Maine Pyaar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Vaastav and Kuch Kuch Hota Hain. She has also worked in some of the most popular television shows including Tu Tu Main Main and Shrimaan Shrimati.
A noted actress, Reema Lagoo was born as Gurinder Bhadbhade in 1958. She started her career with Marathi theatre and also went on to do a number Marathi films in her career.

The actress changed her name to Reema Lagoo after she got married to Marathi actor, Vivek Lagoo. However, they separated a few years later. Reema Lagoo’s daughter Mrunmayee is also an actor and theater director by profession. Reema Lagoo has shared screen space with the who’s who of Bollywood including, Sanjay Dutt, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan.
Initial reports suggest that her funeral will take place in Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai at 2 PM. The sudden demise of the senior actress has shocked her fans across the country. While some said they had lost a part of their childhood, some pointed that she passed away too early.
