Apart from his spot-on acting skills, Rishi Kapoor is known for his candid tweets and brutally honest opinions on almost every issue ruling the news. Be it slamming Rahul Gandhi for his “country being run by dynasts” statement or unapologetically talking about Ranbir Kapoor’s film’s success and failures, this gentleman never spares anyone.
Recently, while speaking on Neha Dhupia’s #NoFilterNeha Season 2, the senior Kapoor got candid and shared his mind on Ranbir working with Anurag Kashyap and Anurag Basu for Bombay Velvet and Barfi!, respectively. It is to be noted that Rishi had earlier lashed out at Basu delaying the film and cutting Govinda’s scene out of the film. Hitting at the ‘Anurags’ of Bollywood, he quipped,
Anurag? There is Anurag Kashyap, who made Bombay Velvet, but he made a better film in Gangs Of Wasseypur, I couldn’t understand head or tale of Bombay Velvet. And then there was Basu who made Barfi! an outstanding film. I am so happy he took my son for it. My son got great recognition for the film and then he made this Gajja Jasoos..what Jagga Jasoos whatever.. which he made a total mess of. It was as messy as my pronunciation was. He probably got indulged too much.

The veteran actor further added,
I guess both the Anurags got indulged in their films. You know when they are good enough to work on a certain budget and suddenly they are given huge budgets in hand so bandar ke haath mein khilona nahin aa jaata hai, he goes absolutely berserk. So I think that’s what actually happened with both these guys. They were given budgets they could not handle and I guess it happens. It happens with every director, every actor you can’t have a hundred percent record anyway…So it happens.
Earlier, after Rishi had expressed his displeasure over Jagga Jasoos, Ranbir had said,
My father is a very emotional man. Whatever he said was to protect me in some way. I don’t necessarily agree with what he said.

Elaborating on the failure of Jagga Jasoos, the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil actor had also said:
Jagga Jasoos is something that we worked for three and a half years. We all were aware of what we were doing. Sometimes you succeed sometimes you fail. But I don’t look at it as a failure, I look at it as a learning. It gave me a lot. The experience of working with Anurag Basu and everyone was very good. I can’t answer for somebody else but I don’t necessarily agree with everything.
It will be interesting to see how the film fraternity, especially Anurag Kashyap and Anurag Basu, reacts to these statements made by Rishi Kapoor.
