Shah Rukh Khan won our hearts when he played a ruthless gangster in Farhan Akhtar’s Don and Don 2. Since then, there were talks of the actor-director duo collaborating for the third instalment. After no word about the commercially successful franchise, there’s finally some news that will bring cheers to the 51-year-old actor’s fans.
Recently, the film’s co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani spilt the beans on Don 3’s progress at an event.””We are thinking about Don (3) and we are thinking very hard on it. We have found the right idea, it’s being
written now. We will make an official announcement soon,” he said.
“Wait for the announcement,” Sidhwani told PTI when asked if Farhan Akhtar would return as director for the third part. At present, Akhtar is busy shooting for Lucknow Central in which he shares the screen space with Punjabi actor-singer Gippy Grewal and Diana Penty. His production company recently co-produced Raees that featured Shah Rukh Khan, Mahira Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in pivotal roles. The film based on a bootlegger’s rise as an underworld don in Gujarat turned out to be an average grosser at the Box Office.
Directed by Farhan Akhtar, both the Don instalments featured Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, late Om Puri and Boman Irani in pivotal roles. It is unsure whether Priyanka will reprise her role from the other two instalments, especially due to the fact that she is currently doing stints in the West. Also, it is rumoured that King Khan’s wife Gauri is not in favour of the former Miss World sharing the screen space with her better half anymore.

Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is busy with the promotions of Jab Harry Met Sejal, in which he shares the screen space with Anushka Sharma. The film is helmed by Imtiaz Ali and marks the debut collaboration between the actor and director.
