The upcoming biopic on cricket legend and Bharat Ratna Sachin Tendulkar — “Sachin: A Billion Dreams” — has been declared tax-free by the Odisha government. State Finance Minister Sashi Bhushan Behera on May 13 said the entertainment tax on the film has been waived. The movie has already been declared tax-free in Kerala and Chhattisgarh.
Sachin: A Billion Dreams is based on the life of Sachin Tendulkar and it is scheduled to release on May 26. The movie, a biographical drama, captures Tendulkar’s personal journey from a young boy to a cricketing icon.T
The movie also traces his journey as he ruled the pitch for 24 years carrying the hopes and aspirations of a billion people and smashed records to attain his iconic position in cricket.
The biopic will have some of the cricketing legend’s “private personal videos”, which only his family has had access to till now. “What we’ve been able to add are my private personal videos, which nobody has access to except the family. I discussed it with my family and asked ‘Are we ok sharing this?’, because all my well-wishers would want to see something more than what happened for 24 years on the field,” Tendulkar said.
It is written and directed by James Erskine and produced by Ravi Bhagchandka and Carnival Motion Pictures under 200 NotOut Productions.
The Indian cricket team will be coming together to watch the special screening of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s biography. The special screening will take place today at a theatre in Versova in Mumbai, confirmed producer Ravi Bhagchandka in a statement.
Recently, Sachin also had a special screening for the Indian armed forces.
