Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan on Monday was conferred with an honorary doctorate degree from Maulana Azad Urdu University in Hyderabad. “I am very happy. My mother would have been very happy as I am getting this honour in Hyderabad, her birthplace,” Khan said at the varsity’s convocation ceremony. The degree was awarded by President Pranab Mukherjee.
It is not the first time when SRK has been felicitated by an educational institution. He has been conferred with doctorates throughout his film career. In February this year, Khan received his graduation degree from Hansraj College after passing out of the institution 28 years ago.
Last year, Shah Rukh was conferred with the degree of Doctor Honoris Corsa from the University Chancellor HRH The Princess Royal in Edinburgh. He received the degree for his contribution to philanthropy, altruism as well as humanitarianism as an actor.
Recently, Alan Rusbridger, the principal of LMH College of the Oxford University invited him to deliver a speech to the students at the Lady Margaret Hall of the prestigious university.
@iamsrk can we tempt to to Oxford University to talk to our students at @lmhoxford? They love you (I’m the principal)
