Shenaz Treasurywala’s open letter to trolls targeting her for questioning PM Modi on women safety is going viral

Shenaz Treasurywala wants the ones in power including Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure that the country became safer for women

Shenaz Treasurywala has written an open letter to trolls after she was targeted for raising questions about women safety. Slamming trolls, Shenaz said it was not about who was in power- a Bhartiya Janta Party government or a Congress one, but the ill state of women safety in the country. Shenaz added that almost everyday reports of rape and molestation surface in the news and this is alarming.

The Ishq Vishq actress narrated a recent incident when she and her friend felt unsafe after being followed by a group of men in National Museum, Delhi. Taking the examples of recent crimes against women, Shenaz wrote, “There is a rape every two minutes in our country. Headlines like this everyday. “Days after the brutal Haryana rape, three men gangrape Sikkimese women in moving car in Gurugram…” We try not to read the whole story. ”

Shenaz then went to write that this scenario will not change until everyone raises their voices. She called for citizens to talk about the condition and hoped it would change things. Addressing trolls who has spoken ill about her after she wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shenaz wrote, “The government has an obligation to us. Whether it’s BJP or Congress, I don’t care. This is not political. So please for God’s sake stop writing to me asking me why I am saying this to our PM Modi and never said anything to Congress. I don’t give an Eff about who is in power. I believe they are all the same. I care about women and their safety and equality.”

The 35-year-old added that women safety should be the number one issue on everyone’s minds. ”

Our women need to be safe. Pressure those in power to do something. Use whatever power you have and tweet to the government every single day. Demonstrate. Make this your No.1 issue. Before anything else. Not even baby girls are safe in our country. Tweet to the Prime Minister, tweet to the Supreme Court, wake up India. Your women are not equal, not safe. Is this a country for women? Is rape India’s middle name? Don’t stop, won’t stop. And hashtag #nocountryforwomen #itsnotourshame. I am so angry! You should be too,” she added and signed off the letter.

Now that Shenaz has told trolls what the real issue is, we wonder will they ever learn? Women safety is one of the grave issues that needs everyone’s attention. And more than attention, something needs to be done about it.
