It looks like one can never predict anything about a film when it comes to the censor board. Recently, director Shaad Ali’s Ok Jaanu was surprisingly passed by the certification board with just 4 verbal cuts and some minor changes in the dialogues.
The decision comes as a surprise, as the censor board had a lot of troubles with the Tamil version and the concept of live-in relations when the movie had gone for the censor certification in 2015. In an interview with DNA, when censor chief Pahlaj Nihalani was asked about the sudden change in one year, he said:
The times are changing. At one time couples couldn’t even meet before marriage. Now, they get a chance to spend time with one another to know whether they are compatible or not. That’s a social reality. We must recognize and respect the changes in social mores.
This statement from Nihalani is something which we don’t expect him to say, after witnessing all his past decisions. But, if this is true then we are really glad to see this change.

Talking about the film, it is a Hindi remake of Mani Ratnam’s Tamil blockbuster O Kadhal Kanmani and deals with the subject of live-in relationships. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur’s chemistry is simply amazing and you will be taken back to their Aashiqui days. Written by Gulzar and music by AR Rahman, songs are the USP of this film.

Well, we really hope that OK Jaanu will create the same magic like that of O Kadhal Kanmani. The movie is releasing on January 13 next year.
