Shweta Basu Prasad has through a Facebook post slammed everyone who criticised SS Rajamouli and his movie Baahubali. Though a large part of film critics have been in wow of Rajamouli and his imagination, there were few who didn’t have good things to say about the movie. Taking Rajamouli’s side, Shweta wrote a strong-worded post where she asked filmmakers to stop trying to please the west.
As surprising as it may come to many, Baahubali: The Conclusion did not get all flowers. There were brickbats with few being of the opinion that the movie lacked soul and a good story. Few critics of the movie felt that apart from the grandeur, there was nothing brilliant in the movie. Calling it superficial and something that has no relevance with truth, few critics came down heavily on the Rajamouli’s movie.
If not the story line, some said the movie was not liberal. Few were of the opinion that movie forced Hinduism since it showed the main characters praying to Shiva and other Hindu Gods.
But, Shweta came to the magnum opus’ defence and said the movie has been scripting history at the Box Office because the story was Indian. She said filmmakers sold poverty porn in what may be seen as her dig to films like Great Grand Masti and Mastizaade. Read her post here
