It seems that the stars are not aligned in favour of Karan Johar. After facing flak for his ‘nepotism rocks’ jibe at IIFA 2017 awards event, the filmmaker has come at crosshairs with none other than Simi Garewal. The yesteryear actress, who hosted the popular show Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, has now accused the Ae Dil Hai Mushkil director of replacing her at an award function.
“After I finished hosting IFFM Awards @karanjohar told Festival Director ‘Next year I want to host the awards’! Another takeover?!” Garewal tweeted on August 15.
The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) was held in Melbourne where Karan Johar was felicitated with the leadership in cinema award. Sushant Singh Rajput was adjudged Best Actor for his role in MS Dhoni: An Untold Story whereas Konkona Sen Sharma bagged the Best Actress award for her role in Alankrita Srivastava’s Lipstick Under My Burkha. The event saw Aishwarya Rai Bachchan become the first Indian actress to hoist the Tricolour at the event.
Soon, Twitter erupted in support of the Karz actress, reminding her that the Rendezvous.. was a great show and that she should make a comeback on television.
This is a kind of Mafia taking over.

It should be noted that Koffee With Karan had replaced Rendezvous With Simi Garewal, when the latter was at the peak of its popularity. This angry tweet by Garewal has put Johar in a tight spot as the ongoing year has not been a pleasant one for him. Earlier this year, he was roasted on his talk-show Koffee With Karan by Kangana Ranaut, who accused him of being a ‘flag bearer of nepotism’ and a movie mafia. Later, he tried to troll the Queen actress at the IIFA 2017 Awards event but his move backfired. He was later forced to apologise for his controversial remark.
