Sunil Grover’s upcoming movie Coffee With D is said to be delayed after alleged threats from the underworld. The movie has Sunil playing the role of a news anchor who interviews dreaded don Dawood Ibrahim. It ran into troubles with the underworld since the trailer was released. Their story has reportedly irked the underworld. Producer Vinod Ramani, Director Vishal Mishra and Sunil have been receiving anonymous threat calls. The movie was slated to be the first release of this year but seems those plans have gone south.
A media report said that callers have asked the makers to delete all references of Dawood Ibrahim or they would face dire consequences. The makes are said to have approached Delhi Police to nab the callers.
Though these calls are being suggested as the reason behind the movie’s delay, the makers refused to say so. While speaking to a leading daily, director Vishal said the path to the movie’s release was never easy. He said:
From the time of the release of the trailer, it hasn’t been quite easy. We are being hopeful and taking each day as it comes. As of now, the release has been postponed.
The makers have filed a complaint seeking probe in the matter and have asserted that Dawood’s infamous aide Chotta Shakeel is behind these calls, reports suggest. As of now the movie has been delayed and it is to be seen if it releases or not.
On a related note, Sunil Grover had earlier written a letter to Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi asking him to take actions against Dawood Ibrahim, arrest him and bring him justice.
