Now, Taarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma accused of hurting religious sentiments! Details inside

A Sikh community is protesting and demanding a ban on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for hurting their religious sentiments

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been ruling the small screen for almost nine years now. The show has been on-air since 2009 and has managed to consistently feature in the top 10 watched TV shows every month. But, according to some latest reports, the popular comedy show inspired by the work of Taarak Mehta’s Duniya Ne Undha Chashma might have landed into trouble. The light-hearted show may face a ban for hurting religious sentiments of the Sikh community.

According to the reports published by a leading daily, a Sikh community is protesting and demanding a ban on Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah for hurting their religious sentiments. In a statement to the media, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) chief Kirpal Singh Badungar said, “the serial hurt the community by showing a living character of tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh, which was against the Sikh tenets.”

He further added, “No actor or any character can equate himself with the tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. Such an act is unpardonable.” The reports also suggested that Kirpal Singh had warned the writer as well as the director to not show such blasphemous content.

TMKOC gained popularity for bringing forth a number of social issues like eve-teasing, gender roles, secularism, patriotism, women’s safety, child adoption, class discrimination and old age homes. Despite its inspirational and moving content all along, this time, the makers have not been lucky.

Well, this won’t be the first time that a show on the small screen has been demanded to be taken down due of its content. Recently, Pehredaar Piya Ki was taken down for its outright cringe-worthy content when a 10-year-old boy is married to an 18-year-old woman.
