Let’s face it. The most exciting thing about Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is the fact that its director is Vikramaditya Motwane. After all, the film stars Harshvardhan Kapoor whose first film was 2016’s magnificent flop, Mirzya. A film probably made just to showcase cinematographer Pawel Dyllus’s exceptional skills and Kapoor’s horse-riding abilities.
It would be safe to say that as far as Bhavesh Joshi Superhero is concerned, quite a few of us are banking on Motwane’s considerable talent as an intelligent filmmaker and storyteller.
“Hero paida nahi hota, banta hai”, says the narrator as a hoodie clad man walks into the frame. Kapoor? Most likely. The rather long teaser is narrated entirely by the same man, letting us know the nitty-gritties of the birth of a hero.

The clip gives us a mysterious guy, in all probability the hero, a ‘crime board’ full of newspaper clippings (a must with vigilantes), a bike chase, a fight sequence in the dark (say Kapoor’s not playing the Indian Daredevil), more fight scenes with gangs(?), a mask that looks like that experimental mask Spidey wore till IronMan gave him a cool new suit, explosions, and repeated references of coming back from the dead.
There’s not much to go on here, especially if you have questions about the special abilities of the superhero. Can he fly? Can he manipulate metal? Does he have claws? My guess is that he keeps coming back from the dead. No particular reason. Just cause he mentioned death a few too many times. Lawl.
To be fair, the trailer is pretty Marvel-ish despite the quintessential Bollywood monologue about ‘sachai’ and ‘insaaf’. And to be honest, despite my reservations about Bollywood’s superhero films (Krrish 3 and The Flying Jatt anyone?), this one I’d happily watch:
The film will release on May 25, 2018.
