Akshay Kumar’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha has shown a fantastic trend at the Box-Office in its opening weekend as the film raked in approximately Rs 22 crore on Sunday, taking the 3 day total to Rs 52.20 crore. As these numbers are an early estimate, they may vary slightly depending on how the film has performed in the interiors.
Though the film’s opening was decent, the business picked up across all multiplexes, with cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore showing a jump in the range of 50 to 60%. The interiors of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh also showed a positive trend. If the film continues having such a steady trend at the Box Office, it has the chances to emerge as Akshay Kumar’s highest grosser till date, even surpassing Rowdy Rathore (133 crore).
Day Wise Box Office Collection:
- Friday: Rs 13.10 crore
- Saturday: Rs 17.10 crore
- Sunday: Rs 22 crore
- Total: Rs 52.20 crore
The film has recorded the third biggest opening weekend of the year after Tubelight and Raees. The 3-day collection of Toilet: Ek Prem Katha is higher than that of Jab Harry Met Sejal, which seemed to have a far bigger release and was more star-studded.
With its budget being restrained, an interesting subject and Akshay Kumar’s stardom is bound to ensure that Toilet: Ek Prem Katha will become a hit. The film would be the first major hit for the Hindi film industry post Baahubali 2, and would thereby end the drought at the Box Office.
Toilet: Ek Prem Katha would be termed a hit at collections above Rs 110 crore, and given the trend so far, it seems that the film would easily breach past that number. The film would certainly reap the benefit of Independence Day holiday on Tuesday and is expected to cash in an extended weekend total close to Rs 75 crore.
