Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt made their on-screen debut together with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year (2012) and since then have done three movies, including Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017). Right after their first release, rumours of their relationship started doing rounds and with successive movies and their brilliant on-screen chemistry, people started linking them up even more. While they were shooting in Singapore for Badrinath Ki Dulhania that Alia Bhatt spoke up about her relationship with her co-actor-cum-good friend Varun Dhawan. She found the link-ups disturbing and said that she was ‘bothered by it’.
Recently, in an interview with HT Cafe, Varun decided to speak up on the topic and said, “Alia and I have worked together, and we enjoy working with one another. I did my first film with her and we recently shot our third film together. So, it’s all nice and it’s always lovely working with her. People enjoy watching us together, which is the most important thing. At the end of the day, Alia is a friend of mine.”
Alia Bhatt posted an extremely cute video with Varun Dhawan on Instagram while they were promoting Badrinath Ki Dulhania :

Alia Bhatt is seeing Siddharth Malhotra and has often been spotted with him but that probably that hasn’t stopped people from linking her up with her friend Varun Dhawan. The pair is such a hit on-screen that they are coming together for the fourth time for Karan Johar’s latest production. Last year, in an interview to a leading daily, Varun said, “Our relationship is always going to be interesting because we have known each other for so long. What’s really good is that it is an honest relationship. We share a bond that I can’t explain in words, but I guess it translates well on screen; that is what matters.”
Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt are old family friends and this photograph speaks volume:

Speaking to HT Cafe about an incident when he and Alia went out for dinner during the shooting of Badrinath Ki Dulhania and media made a news of it, Varun said that “And when these things come in, sometimes, it makes your work look frivolous. It makes people say things like, ‘yaar, yeh log yahi kar rahein hain.’ It got irritating at that point, but now, it’s fine. It’s part and parcel of being an actor, and you also take such things with a pinch of salt.” He added that he is “completely disconnected” when it comes to “who is saying what or who is writing what”.
