Varun Dhawan is busy promoting his upcoming film Badrinath Ki Dulhania which features him alongside Alia Bhatt. The romantic comedy directed by Shashank Khaitan is scheduled to hit the theatres on 10 March. Known for his jovial nature and humble attitude, the Main Tera Hero actor is known for handling uncomfortable questions from the media in a cool manner.
Few days ago, in a press conference, he was asked about Govinda’s rant against his him and father David Dhawan. Govinda during the promotion of his film Aa Gaya Hero had said that Varun could not be like him. At that time, the actor had deflected the question coming in his way. However, recently he failed to do so at an interview. When asked again, he gave an answer which will make you respect him even more.
“We should be criticised. I learn from such criticism. He (Govinda) has said that there can be no similarity between him and me which is absolutely correct. He is a senior actor and I have a lot of respect for him,” Bollywood Life quoted him as saying.
It should be noted that Govinda said that to become like him, Varun needed to be innocent, poor and an uneducated boy. “But he has done only two films with his father, with whom I did 17 films in my career,” he said.
About his rift with David Dhawan, Govinda told IANS:
When I asked David to make the 18th film with me, he took my subject and titled it ‘Chashme Baddoor’ and cast Rishi Kapoor in it. Then I asked him to put me as a guest appearance. He didn’t do that too. After that, I didn’t meet him for some years. I kept requesting him to take at least one shot with me so that it could be my 18th film with him. But I don’t know what he had in his mind.
Whether Govinda’s differences with David Dhawan lasts longer or not, time will tell. But Varun has definitely won our heart with his reply.
