Vasan Bala’s Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota is all set to premiere at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF 2018). It will play the festival’s Midnight Madness section alongside David Gordon Green’s Halloween remake, and Shane Black The Predator reboot.
According to the TIFF website, Bala’s film is described as that with ‘Bollywood-infused action’ and a story that follows a man born with the ability to literally feel no pain. And what happens when he sets out to vanquish a hundred foes.

This is Bala’s second film after the unreleased Peddlers – starring Gulshan Devaiah, Nishikant Kamat and Kriti Malhotra. The title seems to do be feeding off the Bollywood’s angry young man culture, epitomised by that iconic dialogue in the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer. Interestingly, Bala’s close collaborator Vikramaditya Motwane tried this as well in Bhavesh Joshi Superhero (that released earlier this year).

Bala has been closely involved with Anurag Kashyap’s Bombay Velvet and Raman Raghav 2.0, where he shares screenwriting credits with the director. Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota will see newcomers Abhimanyu Dasani and Radhika Madan play the lead roles.
