SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 is definitely the most anticipated movie of this year. Cine lovers have been waiting with bated breath to know the answer to the most daunting question- ‘Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?’ And it seems that this anticipation has translated into profits for the makers. If media reports are anything to go by, the magnum opus has already made a profit of more than Rs 500 crore, only be selling the theatrical rights.
The film whose Hindi version will be presented by Karan Johar’s Dharma productions will release in three languages- Telugu, Tamil and Hindi.
According to a trade analyst Ramesh Bala, the theatrical rights of the Hindi version has been sold for Rs 120 crore. Other than this, the movie earned Rs 130 crore by sale of theatrical rights in the Telugu states. In fact, the rights sold in the state of Tamil Nadu itself fetched the film Rs 47 crore. The rights were sold in Kerala for Rs 10 crore and for Rs 45 crore in Karnataka. The distribution rights in North America were sold for Rs 45 crore.

Besides, the satellite rights of the film were bought by Sony for a whooping amount of Rs 51 crore, said some media reports.

Starring Prabhas, Rana Daggubatti, Tamannah and Anushka Shetty in pivotal roles, Baahubali 2 will release on 28 April. The magnum opus is currently in its post-production stage and a total of 33 studios from around the world are said to be working on the special effects.
