Neeraj Pandey and Akshay Kumar announced their third collaboration in the form of Crack and since then, the speculations surrounding the film refuse to die. While several media reports claimed that the film has been shelved, Pandey always maintained that it would go on floors once the script is finalised.
It seems that the script has finally been locked and the director is now working towards sorting out the date issues with Akshay Kumar. As Pandey’s debut film, A Wednesday completes nine years tomorrow, September 5, the director interacted with the media in Mumbai, wherein he confirmed that Crack would go on floors next year. He said:
We are still working on the schedule but I can tell you that we are not going on floors in November. I will be wrapping the schedule of Aiyaari in September/October, so technically it won’t be possible for me to jump on another film so soon. We are working out the schedule and I hope that we go on floors next year.
The film was initially supposed to release during the Independence Day 2017 weekend, however, it was later on indefinitely pushed. Talking about the reason for the delay, Pandey said:
Sometimes your schedules don’t work out, but every film has such a story. There are so many factors that have to come together so that a film gets made. For this one, the slot in which it was supposed to go on floors didn’t work out. When we had the dates, I got busy with Aiyaari. So, the schedules could not work out back then, but right now we are working towards getting a common schedule.
The first poster of Crack was launched quite some back with the tagline ‘Every Storm Has A Rage, Every Rage Has A Story.’
Neeraj Pandey’s next directorial, Aiyaari is slated to release during the Republic Day 2018 weekend.
