Songs have become one of the most crucial elements for a Bollywood film to become a Box Office hit. No Bollywood movie is ever considered complete without having songs in it. From the era of black and white films to the present experiments with 3D formats, songs have become characteristic of Bollywood films and have become a crucial factor for their performance. There have been quite a few cult Bollywood songs which have emerged from every phase of our film industry. But many of us don’t really know many of those songs had their origin in Pakistan!
Evergreen songs like Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, Laung Gawacha, Chandni Ratein and more, which have been in our playlist have had their origin in Pakistan. They were penned and composed in Pakistan. Even the hit dance numbers like Munni Badnam Hui, Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast, Mera Piya Ghar Aya belong to Pakistani treatment.

1. Tu Meri Zindagi Hai:
The popular Bollywood number Tu Meri Zindagi Hai was a part of Aashiqui released in 1987. But the original number was featured in Mohabbat Mar Nahin Sakti released in 1977. The song was sung by Tasawar Khanum.
2. Laung Gawacha:
Laung Gawacha is one of the iconic Punjabi songs that we have grown up listening to. It has become a must song to groove on in all the happy occasions. The song has had many hit versions in Bollywood and Indian film industry, but the beautiful song was originally composed in Pakistan. Sung originally by Musarrat Nazir, it was included in an album titled Subedar, released in 1991.
3. Chandni Ratein:
The melodious and soul soothing song Chandni Ratein was originally sung by Noor Jehan, also known as Malika-e-Tarrannum (the queen of melody).
4. Mera Piya Ghar Aya:
One of the most groovy hits of the 90’s in Bollywood, Mera Piya Ghar Aya is still a favorite of many. Interestingly, many of us didn’t know that it was inspired by a Pakistani qawwali sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
5. Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast:
Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast, is one those cult Bollywood peppy numbers which has been an all time favorite for those who were born in the 90’s. The song featuring Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar is another example of Bollywood copying a Pakistani song. The original song was sung by Noor Jehan.

6. Munni Badnam Hui:
Munni Badnam Hui, the hit number from Salman Khan’s film Dabangg, made everyone go mad since the moment it was launched. It is also copied from Pakistan. The song was first sung in Mr.Charlie.
7. Lambi Judai:
The famous song Lambi Judai from Emraan Hashmi’s movie Jannat was actually heavily influenced by Pakistani’s folk singer Reshma’s original song Lambi Judai sung for the movie Hero.
8. Bahut Pyar Karte Hain Tumko Sanam:
Bahut Pyar Karte Hain Tumko Sanam, the melodious song from Saajan, was a chartbuster in 90’s and still remains favorite for many. However, the song was copied from Pakistani song Buhat Khoobsurat Hai Mera Sanam sung by Mehdi Hasan for the 1978 film Abshar.
9. Kitna Pyaara Tujhe:
Kitna Pyaara Tujhe, the hit track from the Blockbuster film Raja Hindustani featuring Aamir Khan and Karisma Kapoor was copied from the song Kinna Sona Tenu Rab Ne Banaya sung by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
10. Dil Mera Tod Diya:
Dil Mera Tod Diya Kisne, the was a part of Kasoor. The original was a part of the film Azmat, released way back in 1973.
11. Blue Hai Paani Paani:
Blue Hai Paani Paani, the Bollywood’s party number from the film Yaariyan is heavily inspired by Pakistani song Jani Jani from Lafange.
